BOLOGNA, CITY OF MUSIC

In 2006, the city of Bologna was nominated as "Città Creativa della Musica" by UNESCO in recognition of its strong history of music and today's lively music scene. Bologna boasts some important institutions such as the Teatro Comunale and the Accademia Filarmonica which support this musical tradition. SOME HISTORY

Mozart, Liszt, Rossini and Donizetti are only a few of the many composers who had strong connections with the City of Bologna. Later in the twentieth century, other genres such as blues, jazz and pop arrived on the scene, giving way to a long list of songwriters such as Francesco Guccini, Gianni Morandi, Lucio Dalla, Luca Carboni and Cesare Cremonini, who have profoundly influenced the Italian musical panorama.
