Bologna’s jazz history has its origins in 1938 when young enthusiasts used to buy the new jazz albums at “Negozio Borsari”. After the War, Bologna became an important landmark for jazz bands and some of the most known American soloists. From there, the first local jazz bands began to appear.
BOLOGNA JAZZ FESTIVAL
Bologna Jazz Festival takes place not only in Bologna but also in Modena, Ferrara and Forlì. It includes big concerts in theaters but also smaller events at local jazz clubs like “Cantina Bentivoglio” and “Camera - jazz & music club”. Besides the concerts, the program also includes lessons and workshops.
CROSSROADS
Crossroads is a famous traveling jazz festival which takes place all over Emilia Romagna and it's one of the biggest events of this kind in Europe. It hosts many famous musicians but also gives much importance to rising talents in order to discover the new expressions of jazz.
CANTINA BENTIVOGLIO
Cantina Bentivoglio is a restaurant but also a jazz club. Here you can taste traditional bolognese dishes while enjoying a live jazz band. Through the years, Cantina Bentivoglio has hosted many festivals like Bologna Jazz Festival and Heineken Music Club.
